tyr swim wear: hi, new here. i just joined my local ymca and i'd like to add swimming to my fitness regimen. i already know how to swim, but the problem is i don't want to get my hair wet (it's color-treated), so i bought a swim cap. it's a latex one made by tyr. i just tried it on and it is dang uncomfortable, i feel like my head is in a vice. is it supposed to feel like that? or am i wearing it wrong? are other brands more comfortable? could i wear a shower cap instead, or would that just fall off? thanks in advance for any advice!
tyr swim wear: heeheehee...there is a swim shop in my area that had a grab bag bin full of 1-1.5" briefs...2 for $10! i think the cutting is the same as other tyr suits, just that the material(?lycra blend??) doesn't stretch and conform to my body as well as the older materials (polyester/spandex). hence i ended up having to wear it very delicately to ensure nothing showed. anyway i guess that's why they're 2 for $10...maybe i was supposed to wear *two* at the same time? :-d
tyr swim wear: i have also just purchased a suit made by a local woman who sells wear direct to swim clubs and from her workshop. it is polyester/lycra which i am hoping will give the longevity of polyester with the comfort of lycra. it cost nz$35 as opposed to nz$70-100 for speedo or wear tyr. i figured ir was worth a try.
tyr swim wear: the best bet for improving suit life is get a good heavy nylon practice suit. i found one of those marked way down in a surf shop several years ago and it lasted me several years. that was a nike brief style suit. unfortunately, i've had no luck finding anything else like it, either on line or at the local swim shops. i did get some tyr nylon practice suits from kiefer several months ago, but they're already starting to fade. i seriously doubt i'll get more than 5 months out of them. wear
tyr swim wear: thanks shannon wear yes will abandon the idea of the swim cap - will do the drops after swimming - also will see if i can find the tyr type of plugs as the ones i tried before were uncomfortable. appreciate your input
