swim wear thong: it won't hurt to call up and ask. i would think gyms where mostly adults go wouldn't be a problem. when i started wearing a thong at a s. calif college for swimming laps 15 years ago, there was some minor comments made and a campus cop even stood by the pool one day. but they apparently consulted with the campus attorneys and saw that there were no applicable laws, especially since thongs on the beach a few miles away were not uncommon, and i've swum laps in a thong ever since. it probably depends a lot on your behavior. if you make a big thing of parading and hanging around kids, complaints are bound to fly. if you just walk from the lockers to the pool and back, all you'll get is appreciative stares from the guys and annoyed admiration for your bravery from the women. the worst that can happen is for some managerial type to come over and ask you to wear a bigger swim suit. make sure it's a manager, though, and not some lowly staffer.
swim wear thong: we just moved to oregon. the temperature is warmer here than where we were living in british columbia. can someone tell me what the partial nudity etiquite & acceptance is here. my 2 daughters are 16 & 18, they usually wear bikini-thong swim suits. they usually wear the tops but not always. if they make a run to a 7-11 or other type of store they have been puting t-shirts on over their thongs bottoms. what i am concerned about is when the their butt is (partially or completely) exposed (in public) below where the t-shirt hangs. is that going to be a problem here? is there a difference if the butt is partial or completely exposed?
swim wear thong: which public areas? in the vicinity of a beach or swimming pool, personally i think they ought to be allowed to do their thing, but the style police ought to force them to go naked instead of wearing a thong. but i think it's 100x more sensible to swim naked than wear some pointless uncomfortable 4" piece of spandex. as for one piece suits, no problem at all. as for wearing any swimwear outside the vicinity of a swimming site? outlaw it. (again, for me, give me no clothes rather than having to look at that).
