maxine of hollywood swim wear: maxine feels a few pangs of guilt for berating eric into fleeing state lines. the fact that she feels guilty is supposed to be enough, and at the end, maxine is assured that she has nothing to be remorseful for. too bad she does, that her callous verbal decimation of him is what drove him over the edge and caused him to give up all his friends and newfound family. but oh no, that is all eric's fault, because he lied about the knife. it's sort of like a child breaking a dish and lying. when he confesses, his mother says, "you pathetic hollywood swim wear little shit, you have been a blight on this planet all your life and i wish hollywood swim wear you'd never been born." if the child runs away, that isn't the mother's fault, since she didn't lie and she didn't run away, right?
