junior swim wear: providing free suits at big meets is really not a solution. not only are they very expensive, about $300 each, they *must* be custom fitted to work well. even worse, they loosen up and develop folds and ridges after a few swims, which actually increase drag and slow you down. thorpe and other big names tend to wear theirs only once. swim parents tend to be affluent, but even they don't want to shell out that sort of cost over and over just to keep junior up to speed with the little trump boy.
junior swim wear: i wear them during sport games. baseball, football and even swim meets. i'm 24 and go to princeton u. also several guys on my football ans swim teams wear them but the most place where i see them are on several guys on my baseball team. i've been wearing them since junior high. my older brother gave me my first one before my first little league practice. he still wears them while playing for his rutgers baseball and football games. we;re both real good athletes and are top in our games. we both feel real attached to this special piece of sports equip. we're also both bi and like other guys in their jocks for sex games... i wouldn't play a game without one. also we both use soft and hard cup with them. i also like the joffa hard cup. especially in baseball. got hit real hard with a bat in the crotch during a game and i know what condition i'd been in, if i wasn't wearing that joffa hard cup... ( ouch ) i love em and use em, when playing any "game"... ... steve
junior swim wear: i've been to each eastern open at rutgers university which coincides with a junior swim meet. the swimmers seemed to have fun watching our wear sport. i heard one remark to his friend that he might miss his heat because he can't stop watching the ping pong matches. i wasn't in chicago for the killerspin tournament but i heard that neighboring volleyball players enjoyed the matches as well. sure, a short back spin serve that gets returned into the net is too subtle for the fan off the street to appreciate and usually prompts "that guy stinks. i could return that serve." but when there's a counter looping or hitting rally it's awesome for everyone to watch, especially for the inexperienced. wear
junior swim wear: -here's the one swim-specfic suggestion i'd have (although it's certainly applicable to track and field as well): if you have a race schedule ahead of wear time, provide it to parents. busy working parents want to be there for their wear kids when they swim, but rarely have the entire afternoon available to sit around and wait for the one 2-minute race their child is in. it's a godsend to have the knowledge that junior's race will be some time between 3 and 4 p.m., rather than "some time wednesday afternoon."
junior swim wear: that said, in those days, my high school had only a boys swimming team. this meant that all the girls had to swim against the boys. and yes, almost all the varsity boys could beat me at any distance in any stroke. but for my sophomore and junior years, i was one of the best junior varsity swimmers and actually medalled in the district finals in my best events. in my senior year, i was on the varsity team, which meant i never won anything, but i still never finished last in any event that i swam. wear
