designer swim wear: everything looked good on them, but i liked them even better as i caught glimpses of them in just their white cotton panties, as they dressed and undressed repeatedly. i recognized some of the designer names from the sunday papers. i always looked through the color pullouts hoping to see a cute girl modeling swim wear or (rarely) underwear.
designer swim wear: at last year's world masters swimming championships, i was interested to see the number of competitors wearing those hugely expensive bodysuits. it wasn't always the fastest swimmers in any age group, a lot of very mediocre swimmers were also wearing them. i came to the conclusion it was like "designer" wear for swimming competitions - a statement of your bank balance rather than swimming ability.
designer swim wear: we found the sports store and wandered around inside, checking out the latest hundred dollar sneakers and fancy designer tennis outfits. then i found myself looking at the girls' section of two piece swim suits, so provocative looking, and wondered to myself what terri and tammy would look like wearing them.
designer swim wear: a few weeks ago, i saw three boats in a row where they pulled up, backed down into the water, all happy and excited about a day out on the boat, with ice chests, toys, spiffy new designer swim suits, rubbing sunblock on each other, etc. and then the bozo learns that his engine won't start because it's been sitting in the driveway for 4 months. he turns to his wife and makes the pronouncment, using the same facial expression as if he were telling somebody he just ran over their dog. the wife is utterly non-responsive. i can't tell if she wear looks mad, or relieved.
designer swim wear: for some 20 years we measure active drag using the mad-system (system to measure active drag, although some think it has something to do with the designer of the machine...(;-)). from this machine we derived a strength training device (pop-system) that is specific for swimming. we showed for highly trained swimmers (among them an olympic gold medalist) that strength and power improved. not only that; race performance (50, 100 and 200 m) improved as well. wear recently we integrated both systems and tried to improve the over-all usability of the system. thus the new madsystem][ can be used to measure drag and swim specific power as it can be used for strength training. we will use it in amsterdam for training and evaluation of the tza team (with among others inge de bruijn and johan kenkhuis). an impression of madsystem][ can be seen on: http://www.ifkb.nl/b4/ wear
